Western Digital is really making its presence felt in the hard drive sector. The company has announced the release of its 2 terabyte hard drive. This first product is an internal hard drive but there are already plans to release an external version.

The WD Caviar Green 2TB, will be priced at $299. There will also be versions in smaller 1.5 terabytes and 1 terabyte capacities.

WD’s decision to release a 2TB drive is to answer a growing consumer demand to release higher capacity storage because of growing media libraries and increasing space requirements for many applications.
