Water-Powered Cell Phone Under Development

water-based fuel cellJapan’s NTT DoCoMo and Aquafairy announced today that they plan to create a tiny water-based fuel cell specifically for mobile phones. The fuel cell, when invented, will be the smallest in the world, they say.

The fuel cell is the smallest in the world with power output of 2 watts. The recharger combines DoCoMo’s recharger technology with Aquafairy’s thin film power unit technology and catalyst for producing hydrogen from water.

According to the report, the easily portable recharger can charge a handset several times, and the recharging time is approximately the same as an AC adapter.

Japan comes up with some crazy technology and company names – Aquafairy – hehe.
