Lenovo releases beefed up 17-inch laptop

Lenovo recently announced the release of the W700 ThinkPad Workstation. The new product is the company’s initial foray into the 17-inch market. The size difference is apparent in the weight as it clocks in at 8.3 pounds.

The W700′s WUXGA widescreen display is also an RGB display, this gives the unit a wider color gamut by displaying up to 72 percent of Adobe RGB color space compared to jst 45 percent with other laptop displays.

The laptop also features a CF card slot and blu-ray player. Storage is also a great option with choices that feature dual hard drives, dual SSDs or one of each. There is also an option to attach a third drive.

It’s no slouch in power either as it can accept the Intel Core 2 Quad-core Extreme procie and up to 8Gb of DDR3 memory. The graphics card is the Quadro FX 3700M or the Quadro FC 2700M.

The price is $3,500, which really entrenches it solely in the corporate market.
