Have Laptop Will Travel on a Palm TX

When it comes to web design and viewing websites in general, I’m all about cross browser compliancy, web standards and clean valid code, so it makes sense that my own website follow the strict standards I believe in and use in my daily work life when I design sites or build web applications, which it does… with one major exception… until now.

The one exception I never considered for my own site was viewing it on a handheld device, so the other day I set out to make sure that my site would work but also look nice on handheld devices. Take a look:

As you can see from the photo above, my site looks really good on my Palm TX.

I’m still working out a few minor CSS tweaks but I think that I’ve got it mostly under control now but I would love some user feedback.

If you own a handheld device like a PocketPC, cell phone, Blackberry or some other PDA and want to help, read on.

What I would like is for multiple people to view my site on their handheld device, then take a digital picture or a screen shot, then send it my way with your feedback if it looks good or what bugs you might be experiencing.

Contact me for my image file specific email address to send your image files.

If I’m not wrong, this blog must be powered by WordPress. Then you can even make your blog WAP compatible using this plugin.

    Hi Thilak.

Indeed I use WordPress for my backend with a lot of custom tweaks and plugins.

I previously did try the plugin you mention and it didn’t do everything that I wanted but thank you for the suggestion.

    Hey TechZ.

The plugin you mentioned is close to what I’m already doing but the one exception is the plugin you mention only adjusts the theme and not the admin area.

What I’ve mashed together works on the admin side of things too. Once I get the kinks worked out, maybe I will release it as a plugin.

What I really need are screen shots from other people using handheld devices to see how it looks.
