The level of immersion to the game will really depend on two things -- how frenetic and engaging the whole first person experience is going to be, and the coolness factor of the level design, especially for multiplayer gaming. In fact, for most first person shooters nowadays, the single player experience is more or less just plastered on to the game. The real meat is in the multiplayer game.
