AMD processors actually lose to Intel in just one aspec -- advertising. Intel is the more popular brand that's why it is bought by more "casual" computer users. for me, AMD will always be a better buy because of a higher price-performance ratio. I concede that at this current generation of processors, the X2 trails the core2duo in terms of speed but the price of X2's are so much more desirable for me.

I have used Intel processors all of my life, except for a K6 in my first desktop. Otherwise in desktops I've had a Celeron, then a Pentium 4, and laptops wise a Pentium and a Pentium III. I now have my first AMD laptop and have been quite pleased. My dad has an identical computer except with an Intel CPU, and mine gets about 30 minutes more battery life.
