We all know that Windows 7 would be (finally) spell the death of the venerable Windows XP. You see, XP had a pretty good run, but I think it’s time to finally let it rest. Windows 7 is the future, baby!
But this is weird: if they want to phase out Windows XP so badly, why are we seeing Windows 7 Starter Edition prices go higher than XP? It doesn’t make sense at all.
Microsoft still hasn’t officially announced exactly how much it will charge for Windows 7 Starter Edition, and the price could be variable since it will be sold in large volumes to PC makers. Consumers won’t be able to walk into a store and pick up a copy. But Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer did suggest recently that the pricing scheme will go something like this: Windows XP, Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home, and then Windows 7 Professional.

Nokia is well-known for its mobile devices, having been in the market for over 25 years, but now the Finnish company has decided to compete in the notebook market with the introduction of its Booklet 3G.
Let’s cut to its list of features. First off, it uses the popular Intel Atom mobile processor, ensuring a decent amount of both power and battery life — up to 12 hours is the claim though you can bet that’s with most things switched off.
Connectivity is good, as you’d expect, with Wi-Fi, 3G/HSPA and A-GPS unit built-in, and there’s also an HDMI output for connecting up to high definition displays.

The Asus EEE Keyboard, which ForeverGeek covered on announcement day will be launched in October for prices between $400 and $500. The specs of the keyboard PC/laptop are very netbook alike but also offer Wireless HDMI. Rest to be seen if the Atom powered lap-keyboard will be able to properly display HD quality for movies.
I still want one of these and hope Hackintosh will function on this device.

Now this is a must-have device for any discerning traveller out there. In the US, Verizon’s AD3700 USB modem will connect to Verizon’s EV-DO network. But if you’re on the go, it will work in 175 countries because the modem support GSM, GPRS, EDGE, HSPA, and UMTS.
For $80, this seems like a pretty good deal. Yeah, you might be cringing at the price, but it’s a small amount to pay for connectivity everywhere.

If you own one of these ThinkPad models: T60/T61/R60/R61/X60/X61 your ThinkPad batteries may be up for recall. Thank goodness the reason’s not another fire hazard. Apparently, the batteries fail sometimes and display errors like “Irreparable damage” or “Battery cannot be charged”.

Download the diagnostic tool and check if your battery is one of the affected ones. We don’t want battery hassles when travelling, do we?
